Christian Center exists for the purpose of leading people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is this relationship that brings the needed change to a person's life. We also believe we're to equip our members and ministry groups to serve our city as residents of the Desert Hot Springs community. Thirty years ago, God blessed our community with this church building. Over these years countless lives have been changed by the ministry of those who dedicated themselves to reaching others for Christ.

We believe that through His clear direction and a series of miracles in securing our new site, God is leading us to a new level in our spiritual journey together. We are excited about the possibilities that the future facilities will hold for us. They will expand our current limited space needs and enable us to serve more in our community by providing classrooms for educational and training purposes for adults, youth and children; a larger multi-purpose room for church services, banquets, recreational activities and community outreach events; and an outdoor amphitheater and sports field where we envision opportunities to host some special and unique events for the good of our community we are called to serve. We are now preparing for the relocation of our church facilities to accommodate the growth that God is giving us.

The challenge is great. Each person who calls Christian Center their church home has been asked to prayerfully consider their role in touching our community through this step of faith. Because of the magnitude of this challenge, each person has prayed about a three-year sacrificial commitment over and above regular tithes and offerings. It is with great expectation and confidence that we believe God will honor each commitment.

Since the purchase of the site on Little Morongo, Christian Center has had the vision to build a new center for worship and outreach in Desert Hot Springs. Now, God has placed before us the opportunity to fulfill that dream. We are planning to construct, with His help, a sanctuary designed as a place where God can meet not only with those of us who are a part of the Christian Center family now, but also those in this Valley who will join us in the years and decades to come. The Worship Center will be a vital tool God can use to help us fulfill our vision of Building Today for a Greater Tomorrow in our community.

How much will the new Worship Center cost?

We are planning to construct phase 1 of the building plan with an estimated cost of $1.7 to $2.2 million. The Building Today for a Greater Tomorrow stewardship campaign has been launched to raise financial resources. In addition to the future sale of our current facilities, we also anticipate limited borrowing.

 

What will the new Worship Center look like?

The initial phase of the building project will include a multi-purpose facility, able to seat 300+. It will have state of the art video and sound equipment, staging for our seasonal musical/dramatic productions, a spacious and welcoming lobby, classrooms and new and expanded restroom, nursery, and kitchen facilities. When will construction begin?

We have retained a Construction Manager and are working to obtain the building permits necessary to begin construction. It is our estimation that we will break ground in 2009 on phase one of construction.
